In summary, I am very pleased with this battery. This is about 4.5 hours longer than the original battery and is about as long as the factory battery would run when it was new.

With normal, continuous use (display set to full brightness, keyboard backlight on, using WiFi), the new battery lasted about 5 hours, which could be stretched at least an hour with some more aggressive energy saving settings. It was a 100% perfect fit, so I then removed the plastic from the new adhesive (already attached to the new battery), set it in place, and then just reversed the process I performed to remove it.Īfter putting everything back together, I fully charged the battery (plus a couple of hours) and gave it a test. Take great care not to excessively bend the battery, and also make it sure it’s completely discharged before attempting to replace it, as lithium batteries can heat up and even catch fire if they are bent or damaged.Īfter removing the old battery, I used adhesive remover to get rid of the rest of the old adhesive, and then I placed the new battery in place to make sure everything would fit.

I was able to free the old battery just with a metal spudger and a plastic card, working very slowly to free the battery and then slip the card underneath.

If you are considering doing this, I would also highly suggest you purchase a toolkit that includes spudgers, plastic cards to fit under the battery, and a way to heat the battery (which loosens the adhesive).īefore removing the battery there are several connectors that need to be disconnected, and the two speakers should be temporarily removed in order to make it easier to access the battery. The battery came with the two screwdrivers that are necessary to remove the laptop cover and the old battery just find a good video and follow the steps. The actual process was pretty straightforward. I have attached photos from the various steps in the process, including the original battery, the laptop after removing the old battery and after cleaning up the old adhesive, and the new battery installed in the laptop. I should mention that I have performed several other relatively difficult battery replacements, including a couple of iPhones, an iPad, and a Surface Pro (which is one of the hardest ever), so I’m pretty familiar with this process. Despite the unfortunate company name, the number of positive reviews, combined with a great price and some helpful videos I found on the Internet which made it look like the replacement wouldn’t be too hard, convinced me to go ahead and place the order.Ģ days later, the battery arrived at the Amazon locker, and I was ready to proceed. I ordered this replacement battery for my mid-2014 MacBook Pro, which was suffering from very short battery life. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and very thankful to PureDick for helping me with the first replacement battery issue.

And because of the overheats with the first replacement, removing that battery was much easier to do to install the second replacement. Installation the first time was a little difficult since I was making sure to be extra cautious not to accidentally puncture the bloated Apple battery cells. I swapped the first replacement out for the second and now it's functioning like normal, no more random shutdowns or overheats! Monitoring this second battery, I'm seeing a capacity of just over 6800mAh for a full charge in comparison to the first replacement's 4600mAh before I replaced it! A few days later, PureDick sent me a second battery. I contacted PureDick via Amazon's seller messages and we tried to figure out if the problem was with my MacBook's power settings or the replacement battery. After replacing, my MacBook would shut down randomly during use and sometimes overheat no matter if I was using it with the power adapter or using it on battery. I ordered a replacement battery from PureDick to replace my MacBook Pro's bloated Apple battery.
